How PodSpot works
Open PodSpot and tap to scan. You'll see the Bluetooth devices around you, each labeled Near or Far. Tap your earbuds to open the signal screen, then walk around. The percentage rises as you get closer, so you can tell which room they are in and then which corner. When they are nearby you can play a sound through the earbuds while they are connected to your iPhone.

What it can and can't do
PodSpot reads the Bluetooth signal your headphones send, right on your iPhone, so scanning works without Wi-Fi or mobile data and non-Apple Bluetooth devices show up too. It is at its best for the last stretch, when you are close but can't see them.
Your headphones need to be switched on, have some battery and be within Bluetooth range. Some AirPods Pro 2, Pro 3, AirPods 4 with ANC, and AirPods 5 charging cases also advertise under the same name as the earbuds (not labeled Case). Classic cases do not. Play Sound works on earbuds while they are connected to your iPhone, not on the case. When you find them, you can save the spot in PodSpot for next time.

Which headphones does PodSpot work with?
Bluetooth devices that are switched on and nearby show up in the scan, including AirPods, Beats and non-Apple earbuds and headphones, as long as your iPhone can read a name from them.
Can PodSpot find headphones with a dead battery?
No. Headphones with no battery send no Bluetooth signal, so no scanner can pick them up, PodSpot included. If you saved the spot where you last found them in PodSpot, start your search there.
Can PodSpot play a sound?
Yes, while your earbuds or headphones are connected to your iPhone. PodSpot plays a sound through them so they are easier to find under a cushion or in a bag. If they are not connected, follow the signal percentage instead. Play Sound does not work on a charging case.

PodSpot is free to download from the App Store, with in-app purchases. It runs on iPhone with iOS 17 or later.
